- According to CNS 3092, A 2044, the groove depth for glass installation must be at least 6.5mm.
- The fixed width between the glass and the glass groove must be at least 3mm.
- When installing 5-6mm glass in a 16mm glass groove inner frame, either glass sealing strips or silicone can be used for fixing (silicone is now the most common method).
- When installing glass thicker than 8mm in a 16mm glass groove inner frame, silicone must be used for fixing the glass.
- Currently, due to increasingly stringent requirements for sound insulation and water/air tightness, silicone fixing is widely used in the market.
- The design of glass sealing strips is an older method of glass installation. According to CNS regulations on depth and width, it is insufficient, so its use is not recommended for applications requiring high water/air tightness.
- Using glass sealing strips is an older fixing method, and they are prone to detaching from the inner frame groove under high lateral wind pressure, resulting in a failure of the water/air tightness effect.
- Glass sealing strips have a shorter lifespan, as they are susceptible to aging due to external weathering factors, which reduces sound insulation and water/air tightness.
- Using silicone for glass installation offers better sound insulation and moisture/air tightness than sealing strips.
- When using silicone to fix glass, according to CNS regulations, it is recommended that the bonding surface between the glass and aluminium be at least 3mm wide and 6.5mm deep on both the inner and outer sides to effectively achieve the desired sound insulation and moisture/air tightness.
- The installation surface should be measured based on the distance between the inner edge of the inner frame and the glass.
- Standard silicone application effectively enhances the lifespan of window glass and improves sound insulation and moisture/air tightness.
